Back to the Future 25th
#236631 - 10/18/10 05:50 AM

"The date Marty McFly went back in time" is October 25th (technically 26th), 1985, so for the 25th anniversary this year there's all sorts of hoopla.

For example, check out this tie-in for the Spike (TV) Scream Movie Awards, where they're staging a cast reunion:

It's a shot-for-shot remake of the original teaser trailer! Great job, Spike!

Also, AMC Theatres is doing a limited release of the 25th anniversary digitally-remastered edition in select markets in the US next Saturday and Monday, and I am planning on road-tripping out to see it, the nearest participating market to me is at least an hour's drive

I'm looking forward to finally seeing the Eric Stoltz footage. (Yeah, I'm buying the Bluray).

Was considering some off colour comment about Doc turning up from the amazing year 5000 with a Parkinsons cure for Marty, but thought better of it!

There is also a game coming out in the future.....

Do not p-mail me for help compiling my updates, ask on the board.
Do not request sound for your favorite game. I work on whatever, when I get around to it.
If you have schematics for discrete sound games not easily found on the net, I would be interested.

It seems that most stores have the preorder price around $50.

So... a few friends and I roadtripped down to see it. And... we didn't get to. Apparently the projector was not set up right. When they started the movie, it was upside-down, double-wide, and double-vision. A crowd of angry nerds wanted to storm the projectionist booth and fix it, but in the end we settled for full refunds on tickets, full refunds on concessions, and free vouchers. This is why, when I DO go to the movies, I go to the locally-run ones and not "Regal" or "AMC" or whatever.

On the other hand, not a total loss. Aside from the voucher and our money back, we also saw someone bring their DeLorean they were just starting to kit out, sitting in the parking lot. Got pictures. Also: someone dressed as Marty, and brought a hoverboard (out of juice, apparently. ) And finally, the angry nerds in front of us passed out flyers that read: "Save The Clock Tower". Apparently duplicates, printed from the Web somewhere. Awesome.

In the theater I saw it, the picture was a little blurry and had a greenish tint. I thought digital was supposed to be pristine. They should have just played it from film! When I saw Star Wars III in digital, it looked damned good.
