Monitor skew
#236489 - 10/16/10 04:52 AM

My predicament is this... my pc's monitor died, so I replaced it with a spare (and really wide) lcd monitor.

NOW...

When I'm working in photoshop, the proportions are out of skew... an object that is 3.5wx4.5h looks square! It messed me up royal since I made a bunch of images, which now print like skinny-crap proportions! $%#$@! Yeah, I looked more closely at the photoshop rulers, and sure enough, they show 3.5 x 4.5... but the 4.5 is, to a ruler held up to the screen, JUST as long as the 3.5, making the image APPEAR square to the eye.

Is there a way to force that monitor (or photoshop) to show me the images proportioned as they should be, not squashed to fit my ass-wide monitor?

You have no idea how many hours i wasted making skinny images Or how long I looked for a way to "stretch" the scale of the vertical ruler to actually show the same proportional scale as the horizontal ruler.

You probably arent using the native resolution of the monitor, so its stretching to its full aspect. Whats the model number of it?

Yeah... Set the resolution properly, set scaling to keep the aspect ratio.

Without knowing what you've got (monitor, graphics card), you can't get specific instructions, but given a windows install, it should all be accessible through a right click on the desktop....
