if not; then possibly any one of these... Rastan, or Street Fighter II.

I cut Super Hang-On, Black Tiger, and Gladiator from that list.

ETA: The game that I've played the longest in one sitting would be Gladiator. With the game set to loop after you beat the last boss.... Trying to go for a high score. It might have been between 3 and 4 hours, until I just got tired of playing.

Hmm no idea. Wish I did, I'd tell you. I know some that are in the range, Mario Bros., ESP Ra De, Progear, SFZ3, SF2CE, SF3 Third Strike, Bomb Jack, Dig Dug.

Individually, probably Mario Bros. When I have others playing, I'd say Shuffleshot (perfect drinking game, and it allows 4 players)

Definitely Gradius 3 (Japan), then any horizontal Konami shooters, then the bullet hell shooters, Raiga: Strato Fighter, Baseball Stars 2, 2020 Super Baseball, NFL Blitz.

Last year I would have said Moon Patrol... until I gave up on it.

This year it is Tetris Grandmaster 2, but does it count if it's against my will? I hate that game, I really do. It sucks.

Robotron.

My young daughters 4 and 5.5 seem to like to have me play Qix, oddly.

Great game. I never had the chance to play it on an actual cab. I guess it had a steering wheel? My stick seems much more logical, but I've also clocked many hours on this game.

Though my childhood faves were Gyruss and Xevious (which I still play from time to time, and have scored far higher than back then), it's probably Robotron - though DK has happened to become a close second.

Likely Mspac, and currently Pac due to the comp going on at Pete's Emulation now, after that. (Man I hated maze games as a kid. I've kinda come into my own here since MAME. Strange.)

Tough to say for me, but the top contenders are Galaga, Strider, Neo Turf Masters, Tetris, Block Out and Gravitar.

Yes, the machines I've seen had a steering wheel and were upright, much like Chase HQ or Outrun.

Last time I had a go of a real machine, it was much harder to play with a steering wheel after using MAME with a keyboard. IIRC, it took me a couple of credits to get past stage 1. In MAME, I can complete all tracks with 1 credit. LOL.

I used to play a lot of Scramble, Moon Patrol, Gyruss, Galaga, Donkey Kong II and Donkey Kong Jnr in the arcades.
As I get older Mr.Do! ages like a fine champagne. The timings within the game makes you awe the original programmers of the game.
Now that the Taito Slapfight (1) rom is supported I'm giving that a lot of time on my Cocktail Table running MAME.
My most played on MAME overall so far - Mr.Do!

I tend to jump around from game to game a lot, but Galaga, Galaxians, and probably Donkey Kong are the ones I come back to most consistently.

Oh, geez. This is going to be pretty telling on my favorite companies and games, I think. It's also going to be a fairly long list.

I would have pulled this info right out of MAME, but I've done a clean install recently, so I'm doing this entirely out of memory. The list is unsorted, but I will certify there's pretty even play across the list.

Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Alcon, Galaga, Galaga 3
1943 Kai, Afterburner 2, Centipede, Lightning Fighters, Ajax
Altered Beast, Battle Garegga, Armed Police Batrider
Asteroids, Berzerk, Bad Dudes, Bosconian, Dig Dug, Mr. Do
Burger Time, Bubble Bobble, Gradius, Life Force, Gradius 2
Gradius 3, Salamander 2 (Okay, so I love Gradius..)
Thunder Cross, Thunder Cross 2 (Okay, so I love KONAMI..)
Dodonpachi, Commando, Donkey Kong, DK Junior,
Darius 2, Defender, Elevator Action, Final Fight
Sky Shark, Flicky, Ghosts 'n Goblins (Yes, I am quite the masochist)
Gun.Smoke, Gyruss
..and pretty much the entire line of Street Fighter titles with the exception of the first one. My JAMMA cabinet is a SF2CE I won in a competition about six years ago. Something's gone bad with the high voltage and I don't have the space to actually test it, and that's why my boards are in storage and MAME's getting all the play right now.

I would add Heavy Barrel to the list, but that's been getting more play on my Wii lately with the dual analog conversion.

There's probably more, like Zaxxon, but I don't want to crash the forum database with this one post. ;P

Really, it's an even mix of stuff through the 80s and 90s, even including SF2 in there. I'd call it an odd mix, considering how people tend to polarize on the years and developers. Speaking of developers, there's a lot of Konami and Capcom, a bit of Atari, a bit of Namco, Sega, Nintendo.. I'd say all the big names are represented, along with companies like Toaplan and Cave that are somewhat more niche.

Tekken 2 Ver.A - hated the updated AI in Tekken 2 Ver.B as all they do is single punches (pokes) and kick you, and the rising kick they always do hits mid so you can't duck it! System 12 is a bit over-specced for my pre-Core2 museum piece and gives me about 48% in the non-interlaced 512x240 mode of Tekken 3/Tag; Tekken 1 and 2 at least get 60-70%.

With Mortal Kombat, I couldn't stand the lack of a run button in MKII (and MK1), and the fact Shao Kahn was a bit too overpowered (e.g. 3 charges through your moves/rope/ice etc = death in 2 seconds). Definitely a MK3-era player, that is when the CPU doesn't decide to go into 'cheat mode' (which was designed to take your money in the arcade so you'd quit in disgust).

I'm really not sure. Maybe TMNT or NBA Jam.
I was going through a list of arcade games that I've played for long time, but a lot of them were on other emulators or console ports.

Super Puzzle Fighter II hands down

Second place is probably Mortal Kombat II or SamSho 1.

Nah not really. To be brutally honest, I grew up playing OutRun all the time, so when MAME finally came out and could run it, I was already burnt out on it lol. Actually I enjoy playing Outrunners more nowadays that OutRun. Also, OutRun 2 and OutRun 2SP are fresher games and have much much more longevity. The original is a classic and will always have a special place in my heart
