You're welcome... uh, I think?
Seriously, I'm not super-connected, so if anyone sees anything that's out of date or links that need updating, etc let me know. I'm not saying that I'm always the fastest but I do update things eventually!

FYI ShimaPong is actually Japanese, so he would know that. It is two words, or a compound word if you like, so there's no reason not to put a space in when transliterating it to English.

That doesn't make any sense. Compound words don't usually have spaces between them; that's why they're compound words.
Maybe he's Japanese, but my teachers in college (native Japanese speakers) wouldn't agree with him. *shrugs*

I haven't received a donation for nearly 18 months and I've given up looking for new items because of it. Of course there's been very few good items coming out of Japan because of that too. That's the deal, no donations means no items except what Smitdogg and the DU source without insider Japanese help. Might as well just remove the link or point it to the DU donations page.

Thanks for that scan. That should make a good replacement on Kaneko page with where Boggy 83 entry can either be updated or removed now that a real Boggy 84 is now supported.

Man TT (Sega 08.1976)
Japanese version of FONZ. Bike-handle shakes when you clash or slide off the track. Sound uses a tape recorded from real bike racing.
Manx TT is released at 11.1995 from Sega on Model 2 board but a developer says he doesn't know this game.

I recall calling 1-800-USA-SEGA, spoke with somebody there (poor person having to take calls from kids... like me), and I talked/asked about this game (Manx TT). The guy I was talking to called it Man-X TT (he insisted this was it's name), but I knew that wasn't right because I played the game in the arcade and heard the voice on there clearly saying "Manx" [mangks] (just like a short tailed cat).

'Manx' refers to the 'Isle of Man' which is an island off the coast of England where there's no speed limit and every year they hold amateur Time Trials for bikes. A couple of riders usually get killed every year. That's were the bob tailed cats are from too!

LOL, dude - check the date that Bobby actually posted the thread - its over a year old! It just keeps getting bumped because ShimaPong keeps finding images to submit, I wonder if he would do best to e-mail or PM Bobby them instead, I don't know how much he checks the boards, its good that we all get to see the stuff he's finding though Still nice sentiment, it would be good if Bobby came back and updated his site again (yes, yes greg I know, I know!)

The way the Unmamed pages are done is ineffective. If people could contribute and maybe Bobby would just have to review their submissions, it would be more up2date.

The method I would go with:
------- a. post images on the forum b. send a message since it won't get misplaced as easily compared to email c. ...but lastly still send an email with assumption that MW hasn't been visited in a while and also informing that images have already been posted earlier and can be grabbed from respective post(s). -----
>(yes, yes greg I know, I know!)
I did correct a couple out-of-date flyer links to TAFA in Atari section last year, but other pages might need flyer links updated since Dan made changes when reorganizing TAFA a few years earlier.

*for newbies that weren't around emuscene years earlier*
imo: 10 years earlier, UnMAMEd was something along the line of the Getty museum with all the images (screen snaps from flyers or other sources) of games that were daring to be emulated/preserved with Atari page or Sega page loaded with several dozens of images. Way back then, one could spend an hour or so viewing all the pages.
In a good way, it is great to have many of the old images in unMAMEd now become actual emulated hardware with images on MAWS, System16, Arcade-History, and other places. And eventually that meant unMAMEd being reduced quite a bit to where it is more of a local art gallery display with fewer old images still left since many of the more popular arcade games (ie: games that were begged to be emulated on a daily basis in previous years) have been emulated.....*j/k*
A lot of the remaining images of games to be emulated: Naomi hardware or post 2000AD hardware, numerous gambling video games, mahjong games, lesser known games from 1970s/1980s....and then bringing up the rear would be some of the lesser popular non-cpu games.
I can see unMAMEd getting by with fewer visual images compared to past years now that a lot has been already completed.

Thanks for the beginnings of unmamed. My concern was not 'bout images, but about letting users do updates directly on the site (pending reviews) updates and providing relief to Bobbie, at least to some degree.

There is another site that allow user updates and is trying to be the most up to date source for unmamed (or in this case, undumped) games: http://mamedev.emulab.it/undumped

I played the DOS game, indeed. But any hints about a possible conversion? I imagined remakes of Future Shock and skyNET for some time, the gameplay/Story was quite ok but the graphics are so dated even for 1995.

Apparently you could play Future Shock in high res by using the SKYNET game to load it.
But yeah. Dated, maybe, I dunno. I like old games.

Me too. I've played both when they came out. But imagine the possibilities uing today's rendering...

Gonta Road-rush (Kawakusu 1982)
Gonta goes urban and countryside walking and crosses over a river to return to his home, Africa. A spear is his weapon to attack an enemy but he can't use it in crossing over a river. He will see a rainbow after finished per courses.
Title screen only prints "Road-rush" and no "Gonta" though.

Wow, that's about the most obvious Rally-X hack I've ever seen. The Namco font is very clearly recognizable

Very good post with mentioning this game.

Definitley one of the more creative re-uses of spare Rally-X boards. Any game that includes gameplay of a Frog with a very big grin is bonus material imo.
I hope Bobby will add this to some future unMAMEd update.....better yet is if game pcb ever surfaces for sale and can be picked and supported sometime later.

Almost all games during that time had that 'font', no? The image layout certainly is leading, though.

Taking a look at Unmamed site, I noticed, for the first time, that the pictures of Dragon's Lair that were posted, were from the game running on a mame build. What build is this? Is there any way to convert the Dragon's Lair videos to chd to make it work in the current mame build?
Pictures taken from MAME WIP page.

Probably, the only way would be to convert a disk image with chdman.
However, since DL is still being actively sold by Digital Leisure, and the fact that it's not in MAME for either 1 or several reasons, I wouldn't expect to get any support trying to accomplish this.

Thank you B2K24. I'll see if I can do something. But how I couldn't find anything out there, I imagine it should be pretty hard(if not impossible).

Games of that time had similar fonts (after all, they're all 8x8) but Namco and Atari each had a font that they used in all of their games.

Mirko made a custom build forever ago that played Daphne-style MPEG rips using Windows DirectShow (although this predated Daphne). That's what those pictures are of.
Standard disclaimer: There is no way to make DL work in MAME as an end user, and even posting about it endangers the possibility of adding it some day (Digital Leisure are quite aggressive with the Google).

You don't. It doesn't contain enough source material to run in MAME, no matter how hard you try to implement it.
